WWE Divas Champion Layla on Raw

WWE Divas Champion Layla El and Kelly defeated Natalya and Maxine on Raw last night.
Well actually it was just Layla and Maxine and Layla pinned Maxine in about 1:00.
Kelly never got into the ring and the only thing she did was blindside Natalya outside the ring after Natalya interfered.
Beth Phoenix got to talk junk at the announce table, but she only got like a minute to do it.
Layla will be defending her WWE Divas Championship title against Beth at WWE Over the Limit.
I hope that match lasts longer than a minute.

Kelly vs Beth Phoenix - WWE Night Of Champions PPV

Kelly vs Beth Phoenix - WWE "Night Of Champions" PPV
http://beautifulwrestling2.blogspot.com/

Last Night at the WWE "Night Of Champions" PPV, Kelly retained her WWE Divas Championship.
K2 came out to the boos of the crowd which really wasn't much of a suprise.

No...not because she can't wrestle, it was because they were in Buffalo, New York where the announcers said Beth was from.
Actually Beth was born and raised in Elmira, New York which is like 150 miles from Buffalo but what the heck....
Anyway, The crowd treated K2 to a "Kelly sucks" chant during the beginning of the match but the crowd loved it when Beth grabbed Kelly, draped her over her knee and spanked her two or three times.
She followed that up with a clothesline and a superplex from the top rope.
The end of the match came when Beth went for the Glam Slam but Kelly slid out and rolled Beth up to get the three count.
Again, K2 was treated to huge boos for her effort.

Remember when Trish Stratus and Mickie James had their feud?
Trish was supposed to be the good guy, but she got booed and no matter how psycho Mickie acted, she got cheered.
Maybe all this booing will help ease K2 into that heel role.....

Female Wrestling News - Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Jenna Morasca and More

www.prowrestling.net is reporting that TNA Knockout Jenna Morasca will not be appearing on TNA programming for at least a few months.
She is currently in Samoa working as a contestant on the upcoming twentieth season of Survivor.
Filming has already started and will last through next month.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated has named Mickie James the number one female wrestler in the second annual PWI Female 50.
The PWI Female 50 ranks the best women's wrestlers in the United States in 2009.
Last years winner was TNA Knockout Awesome Kong.
I've seen this mentioned at several sites, but the first place I saw the news was at Diva Dirt.

I've mentioned a few times about the WWE not using Beth Phoenix recently, and now the Wrestling Observer reports that WWE officials have soured on Beth Phoenix.
As you may recall, Beth went almost a month without appearing on TV, and people were begining to worry about her future with the WWE.
One rumor was that she was "too big" for the WWE's tastes.

The Kurt Angle situation is beginning to sound like a bad Lifetime movie with Kurt, Rhaka Khan, Jeff Jarrett and Karen Angle, restraining orders etc.
And add to that what people have been saying for months about Rhaka being a looney.
Remember the Rhaka Khan/Roxxi incident?

Night of Champions Update and Where in the World is Beth Phoenix?

beth phoenix wwe wrestling
Does this look ugly to you?

On WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view this Sunday, Michelle McCool will be defending her WWE Women's Championship against Melina.
Look for a build up tonight on Smackdown!

And speaking of Smackdown!, Eve will be going up against Natalya in a women's match.

And speaking of champions...where is Beth Phoenix?
Well get ready to boil Phoenix fans.....
It seems the WWE isn't pushing her right now, favoring the more slender women on Raw.
Yep, you heard it right.
They are downplaying Beth so they can play with their Barbies.
One of the best natural wrestlers they have is being sidelined because she's too "big".
I included a pic from the recent Flex Magazine photo shoot she did to show you why Beth is considered too big.
Gosh, she looks hideous doesn't she?

WWE Diva News: Kelly Kelly, Victoria, Mickie James

wwe divas, kelly kelly, female wrestling

Kelly Kelly took on Divas Champion Maryse on Monday Night Raw this week.
Kelly had gotten a win a few weeks back by disqualification but disqualification doesn't win any belts.
So this week she climbed into the ring and the Divas Champion came out on top.
Maryse wasn't satisfied with just winning though, and afterward slapped Kelly which brought in Mickie James who had been sitting at ringside providing additional commentary.
Of course this lead to more heat for the Maryse / Mickie James feud.

Although she isn't a WWE female wrestler, she is still very well liked.
But could Lilian Garcia be leaving Raw?
Evidently the WWE has put out a notice to talent agencies that reads:

"WWE Announcer/Singer / Female / All Ethnicities / 20 - 30

Description: WWE is looking for a young, attractive female to sing the national anthem and be our regular ring announcer every week, for one of our most popular TV shows (WWE is estimated to be seen in 500,000,000 households in 150 countries/30 languages)...

This is a breakout job for any young singer. Please specify on submissions if anyone has appeared on American Idol, making the Band or any show of this comparison.

Rate:depends on talent"

Lilian made her debut on the August 23, 1999 episode of Raw, so she has been with the company quite a while.
Lilian leaving though is..well...unthinkable.

Victoria (Okay I know she's Tara now, but will that ever take?) has posted on her MySpace blog about why she left the WWE, why she joined TNA, and if she is continuing with her goal of an MMA career.
You can read it here

Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes will be taking on Nikki and Brie Bella in a tag team match this week on WGN America's WWE Superstars.

Last Night on Smackdown-Michelle McCool and Gail Kim

Gail Kim got beat last night by Michelle McCool in a number one contender match on Smackdown.
Well that's kinda to be expected right?
I don't think they are ready to do face versus face and have Melina go up against Gail.
The match was good, as the matches with Gail and Michelle are.
Gail looked like she is moving back towards her "submission specialist" move set.
Maybe the WWE writers ARE reading my blogs since I stated awhile back that I thought she should do that.
If so...thank you!
Mixing pro wrestling with MMA style submissions (especially in the Diva's division) is to me a very good idea.
female submission wrestling is very popular on the net, and the WWE could tap into that easily.

Picture this.....
A male heel comes out and starts running his mouth.
One of the Divas comes out and tells him to shut up.
Since she's a girl, the heel takes a swing at her.
The Diva ducks the swing, trips him and clamps on a kimura or a keylock or an armbar or even a triangle choke, applies the pressure and makes him tap out!
This instantly makes up for Wrestlemania and suddenly gives the Diva division new street cred.

Outlandish you may say?
As I recall, martial arts were originally designed so that smaller, weaker opponents could take out larger stronger ones.
You know Bruce Lee was about 5 '6 and his weighed in at around 145.
Gail has her submission moves, Beth Phoenix was a collegiate wrestler and aren't Michelle and Maryse also trained in martial arts?

Now if you read my blogs, you know how much I hate gimmick matches.
But if done right, this could elevate the Diva division to new heights.
And BTW, lets make that a one shot, limited storyline thing with a male wrestler.
I don't really wanna see Triple H versus Maryse as the main even on Raw.

More WWE Diva and TNA Knockout Updates

Last nights women's wrestling match on WWE Raw really wasn't a match.
Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall were supposed to wrestle Kelly Kelly and Melina.
Beth and Jillian were already in the ring waiting and Kelly came out followed by Melina.
Then suddenly Rosa Mendez, who was posing as one of the photographers, jumped Melina and knocked her down.
See I told you that ban wouldn't work...LOL
Security grabs Rosa and hauls her off and Kelly goes to check on Melina at which time the heels decide it's a good time to attack.
So they do and pretty much decimate Kelly and Melina.
Thus the match is ruled No Contest.

Now....who can see a three woman tag team match in the distance?

Over at TNA, Roxxi, Taylor Wilde and ODB will be facing The Kongtourage on TNA iMPACT!

Also over at TNA, Christy Hemme and Awesome Kong may be out a bit as Christy is having trouble with discs in her neck, and Kong has a back injury.
Christy may be looking at surgery.

Female Wrestling on WWE Raw Last Night

Well we had one and a half women's wrestling matches last night on Raw.
First, Goldust and Melina took on Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella.
Goldust and Melina...really not a bad idea. I kinda like that.
Anyway, Goldust and Melina won which of course cued the attack by Rosa.
Her and Melina went at it a bit till security once again broke it up.

Then Kelly Kelly took on Jillian Hall.
Although Jillian pretty much ran the whole match Kelly managed to get the win.
Afterwards Jillian attacked Kelly which cued......Kane.

So the mixed match was a Diva's promo, and the women's match was a Kane promo.
I'm still waiting for the day that we see an actual women's tag team match and a women's single match both on the same night.
I can't really rip the mixed tag team matches that hard since in Lucha Libre, one of the promotions even has a Mixed Tag Team belt.
But I would like to see the women's matches focused on the women's storylines.

BTW, Stephanie McMahon "officially" banned Rosa Mendes from WWE events last night.
We'll see how long that lasts.

Melina, Beth Phoenix and Rosa Mendes

Well things got a lot more interesting on WWE Raw last night.
For me at least.
At the Race to the Rumble Divas Battle Royal, it was down to Mickie James and Melina. After a back and forth battle, Melina finally eliminated her to become the new number one contender for the WWE Women's Wrestling Championship.
Of course this doesn't sit well with current champion Beth Phoenix, who walks out to the ring, slaps Melina and tosses her to the floor.
Bad move.
Melina goes fool and attacks Beth until she gets her on top of the announcers table and is pounding away at her.
THEN, out of nowhere Rosa Mendes (Beth's number one fan...shades of Mickie and Trish) and leaps onto Melina, prompting security to come out and drag Rosa away.
Well Rosa is the drop dead gorgeous (IMHO) Milena Roucka from Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling.

I'm about to say forget Melina and Beth, let's see Melina and Rosa!
Can you imagine these two, Latin blood boiling, going at it in the squared circle?
Forget wrestling, this could be the ultimate feud if played right.
Melina has a good wrestling background and Roucka has been training at OVW and FCW and has some MMA training as well.
Let's see how the WWE handles it.
I'm not gonna assume they screw it up right off the bat this time like I usually do.

WWE: Santa's Little Helper Match, TNA: Knockout Street Fight

You might get to see current WWE Women's Wrestling Champion Beth Phoenix and Former WWE Women's Wrestling Champion Trish Stratus face off tonight.
I say MIGHT because the rumor is that Trish will be there tonight at Raw.
You probably already know Beth has issued an open challenge to the ex-champ.
Raw will be in Toronto this week so.....

Last night at WWE Armageddon they had the ::sigh:: Santa's Little Helper Match.
Okay I know it's tradition and it's supposed to be cute I guess.....
But "serious" female wrestlers dressed up in Santa's Little Helpers costumes?
I wasn't even gonna mention it, but I am mentioning it to highlight this.....
On this weeks TNA Impact!, they will be having a A Knockout Street Fight: Christy Hemme and ODB versus Rhaka Khan and Raisha Saeed.
WWE: Santa's Little Helper Match
TNA: Knockout Street Fight
Does anyone else see the difference in the way the two promotions treat their wrestlers?

Candice Michelle, Roxxi and Cherry

Former WWE Diva Cherry will be getting back into wrestling action at Who's Slamming Who professional wrestling on Saturday night, December 6th, 2008 at 3-2 Count Athletic Training Facility.
The Former WWE Diva will be taking on a current TNA Knockout Roxxi, making this the first "Diva vs. Knockout" match that I can think of.
For more info, e-mail: info@fanslamwrestling.com

And Candice Michelle is in the new issue of Muscular Development Magazine, with a multi page pictorial.
Okay I know Candice is hot and all, but Muscular Development Magazine?
Does the WWE have some kind of agreement with them?
Beth Phoenix I could see doing that.

WWE No Mercy, Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle

wwe superstars, beth phoenix, wwe news

In a fairly solid match last night at WWE No Mercy, Beth Phoenix retained her WWE Women's Wrestling Championship title.
Candice wasn't injured, which was good, but I hope that this match clears the way for a Micki James / Beth Phoenix feud which I think would be way more sellable.
BTW, just a guess, but I give Candice maybe another year with the WWE.

Last night on WWE RAW, Mickie James and Katie Lea

Last night on WWE RAW, Mickie James and Katie Lea

The Mickie James/ Katie Lea feud continued on RAW last night with a match for the WWE Women's Wrestling Title.
Mickie retained her title, but I'm wondering for how long?

The answer to that may have been shown after the match, when Beth Phoenix showed up and waylaid Mickie.
Mickie James, Katie Lea and Beth Phoenix?
Hmmmmm...triple threat match for the title?

WWE Diva Melina updates......

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

After her little run in with Beth Phoenix, Melina has seemingly turned face.
I hope that is the case and not a swerve, because I recall reading about Melina before she came to the WWE.
Melina said that she wanted to be a role model to the young latinas.
Well now she really can.
The bad thing is, that on June 23, 2008 Melina injured her ankle when she fell from the turnbuckle in a match where she and Mickie James took on Natalya and Victoria. Nothing really concrete yet, but the rumor is that she either fractured her heel or tore ligaments in her ankle and will likely need surgery.
BTW, did you know Melina is supposedly seeing Batista?

More WWE Diva Mickie James

I hadn't done WWE RAW Diva Mickie James in awhile, so I thought I'd post these pics. I't looks like kind of a retro shoot, with her dressed more like the "old school" women wrestlers.
As far as I'm concerened, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, Melina and Victoria are the WWE's most talented female wrestlers.

Nattie Neidhart in the WWE.......

Nattie Neidhart is having a little trouble in the WWE.
Nattie is still down at Florida Championship Wrestling, but moving her up involves a small problem for the WWE.
They think she looks too much like Beth Phoenix.
I don't blame them really because I noticed the resemblance first time I saw her.
Now what to do?
Okay, I'm gonna say the wrestling fans are smart enough to tell the difference. Beth is Beth and Nattie is Nattie.
Dye her hair?
Look at some photos of Ashley and Brooke side-by-side.
Or they could pull the classic WWE move and make Nattie Beth's good twin sister. (Wait, that's soap operas.)
But would the WWE ignore Nattie's legendary wrestling heritage?
If Vince thinks it'll make money, in a heartbeat!

Melina and Beth Phoenix against Mickie James and Maria

Last night on RAW, aside from the Candice Michelle fiasco, they had a Women’s Tag Team Match.
Melina and Beth Phoenix against Mickie James and Maria, accompanied by Maria's kayfabe boyfriend Santino Marella.
It should have been Candice in there instead of Maria, but I digress.
Fairly decent match with Maria trying hard.
Maria won it for her team, after Santino interfered and Maria hit a bulldog on Melina.

WWE: Beth Phoenix

Wrestler name(s) Beth Phoenix,Phoenix,Firebird,Fabulous Firebird
Billed height 5'6" (1.68 m)
Billed weight 156 lb
Born November 24, 1980,Elmira, New York
Resides Tulsa, Oklahoma
Billed from Buffalo, New York, Elmira, New York (in OVW)
Trained by The All Knighters (Joey Knight and Robin Knightwing),OVW
Pro wrestling debut: 2000

Elizabeth Carolan née Elizabeth Kocanski is a pro wrestler currently working for WWE under a developmental contract. After getting invited to a WWE tryout in May 2004, she began working full time at their developmental area Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she worked as a wrestler as well as a valet for Aaron Stevens along with Shelly Martinez. In October 2005, after working a SHIMMER event she was signed to a developmental contract with WWE.

Beth began wrestling on the Elmira, New York Notre Dame High School amateur wrestling team. She was the very first female varsity wrestler in her high school's history. She became the North-East freestyle women's champion (72 kg weight class) in 1999. She also became the women's champion (72 kg weight class) at the New York State Fair Tournament in 1999, and was named the most outstanding wrestler that same year in the Brockport Freestyle Tournament. At the time she was also a member of USA Wrestling (a freestyle wrestling club). Her life goal was, according to her, to become a professional wrestler and she believed that having a solid amateur background would help her reach it. After graduating from High School in 1999 she enrolled in both a professional wrestling school and Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Her first choice for wrestling school was Stu Harts Dungeon, but because of the location she decided on a more local school. At the school she ended up at she was trained by the All Knighters—Joey Knight and Robin Knightwing, who themselves were trained in the Hart Dungeon. She made the rounds competing with various independent companies including a match for the now defunct MadMar Entertainment in which her back was cut open due to a steel chair accidentily cutting her.

Beth Phoenix debuted on the May 8, 2006 episode of Monday Night RAW attacking Mickie James during her assault on Trish Stratus. After this incident James began berating her for "ruining everything" and questioning why she even showed up in the first place.

A week later, Beth was formally introduced by Trish Stratus and then battered a distracted Mickie on Trish's behalf. When Mickie finally escaped Beth claimed that Mickie had ruined her life and she wouldn't let her get away with it before calling her a psycho. In the following edition of RAW Beth, now an official RAW diva, again attacked the Women's Champion at that time after her match with Torrie Wilson.

On the May 29, 2006 episode of RAW, Beth teamed up with WWE Diva Torrie Wilson to take on Candice Michelle and Victoria. Also, Trish Stratus was in Beth and Torrie's corner and Mickie James was in Candice and Victoria's corner. Beth pinned Candice after a Down In Flames.

The following week, on the June 5, 2006 episode of RAW (in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Beth came out to the ring with a new theme. She suffered a fractured mandible during a match with Victoria (she was victorious despite the injury) from an open hand slap.. The injury required surgery to place a titanium plate into her jaw, which was a success yet still forced her out of action for an estimated two months. On the June 12, 2006 episode of RAW Mickie was interviewed by Todd Grisham and revealed that she and Beth were grade school friends before but Beth started to "become mean". Since then, Beth has not appeared on any RAW shows and her profile has recently been removed from the WWE website.

On August 16, 2006, Beth returned to action in OVW as the surprise opponent for Serena in a number one contenders match - she was hand picked by OVW women's champion ODB herself to be the opponent. After a distraction from Charles Evans, Phoenix picked up the win hitting Serena with her Down in Flames finisher.

The following week, both Serena & Phoenix wanted a title shot, so ODB said if they can beat her in a tag match, the pinfall winner will receive a shot. Serena won the match for her and Beth's team by pinning newcomer Katie Lea (but only after Beth hit the Down in Flames on Lea and was forced to leave the ring as she wasn't the legal woman in the match). So, in the interest of fairness, the following week, it was announced that there would be a women's battle royal with the title on the line - Beth, Serena, Katie Lea & ODB were the final four women in the ring, with ODB eventually coming out on top.

The following week ODB put her women's title on the line in a four-way that also featured Beth, Serena & Katie Lea. Serena won the match following a spear on ODB, but after the match Phoenix laid out Serena with her newly won belt. At the October 4, 2006 OVW TV Tapings, Beth defeated Serena to capture the OVW Women's Championship. On the November 4 show, Beth lost the OVW women's title to Katie Lea in a gauntlet match - defeating the likes of Roni Jonah, Meloday, Ariel and Jenny Mae first. Lea, Serena, ODB & Beth were the final four in the match with Lea coming out on top.

Phoenix & Lea entered into a feud with each other, with Beth claiming that Lea never defeated her for her title so she was still the champion, Beth even came out with her own version of the OVW women's championship. This brought out Danny Basham (OVW's TroubleShooter), who told Beth her title wasn't real, and that after doing some digging Lea's title wasn't real either, he set a ladder match up where the winner would become the undisputed OVW women's champion, Lea came out ontop in the match, and on the first show of 2007 was presented with the new belt, Phoenix, took the belt from Basham, and after taking a look for herself, handed the Belt to Lea and shook her hand.
