The Most Popular Wrestler This Year - Chyna

Yeah I know that usually I just focus on TNA here and leave the WWE to my other blog, but at one time, I did all the wrestlers here too.
And this year, the most popular female wrestler on this blog is former WWF/WWE Diva Chyna.
Evidently she still has a lot of fans out there, because her entry from way back in 2007 was the most popular by far.
So here she is, the most popular female wrestler on this blog in 2015, Chyna.

Trish Stratus, Number 1?

The Search engine Lycos announced their Lycos 50 list, the 50 most popular Internet search results for the week.
Former WWE Diva Trish Stratus achieved her highest internet search engine ranking ever, topping the list jumping ahead of others like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Pamela Anderson.
Now why is that?
How can Trish hold on that well?
Is it because she actually mixed beauty and skill in the ring?
People miss her?
Or is it that she has kept busy with other projects since leaving the WWE?
I'll give Lycos a little hint......Stacy, Chyna and Lita are still big search items as well.

Kim Kardashian...guest host the BunnyMania lumberjack match

Now Playboy cover girl Kim Kardashian is gonna guest host the BunnyMania lumberjack match?
Okay...bets on who will wind up dragging Kim into the ring?
I say Melina and Beth will drag her in there and TRISH STRATUS will rush in to break it up.
Why Trish?
Everyone seems to love her...she has her own new TV show (not about police) and she seems to maintain a good relationship with the WWE.
If they can't get Trish, I personally think Khloe Kardashian could handle Beth and Melina.


The girl is an amazon, and shes got that " I'll crack your head with a steel chair if you turn your back " look.
And is it just me, or does Khloe look kinda like a younger, prettier Chyna? ( not to take anything away from Chyna. After what....seven years out of the WWE, she still ranks up there with Lita, Trish, Staci. Now THAT is staying power!)

WWE Diva Joanie Laurer / Chyna

Joanie Laurer has been in the news quite a bit lately.
The Former WWE Diva was supposed to be on Nancy Grace but got bumped because of the Lindsay Lohan story, and she was supposed to be on Geraldo Rivera last Saturday, but missed that because her cab was late.
Chyna has taken every opportunity to blast Vince McMahon and the WWE over the Chris Benoit Tragedy. Her attacks have drawn the attention of ( of all people) Eric Bishoff who blasted her on his blog.

But still, I didnt hold that against her.
Actually for awhile there I thought she had hit a good balance Yes I know it was fake, but she looked pretty good I thought.

Joan Marie "Joanie" Laurer aka Chyna

Joan Marie "Joanie" Laurer (born December 27th, 1969) is an American actress and retired professional wrestler. A former bodybuilder, she is best known for her career with the World Wrestling Federation between 1997 and 2001, where she was known as Chyna and nicknamed The Ninth Wonder of the World (with the eighth wonder being André the Giant).

WWF: Chyna, part 4

Once again Chyna's "injuries" allowed her time off until April 2001 so she could promote her biography entitled "If They Only Knew". During this time off it was also announced that Chyna would be featured in a second Playboy Photo Shoot. In March Ivory announced that Chyna wanted another Women's Title shot and since she had put her out of action once, she would do it again at the Wrestlemania X-Seven PPV in April. Unfortunately things did not turn out like Ivory had planned as Chyna "pressed" Ivory above her head and then let her drop like a box of rocks for the win.

Chyna defended her belt only 4 times after that match, 2 matchups against Ivory, then Molly Holly and finally Lita at the Judgment Day PPV. All of a sudden the "Ninth Wonder Of The World" was dropped from WWF broadcasts, never to be seen again in the ring. Imagine this: Your the top female athlete in the WWF. You've won two Intercontinental titles vs. men and you've obtained the Women's Championship belt and are still undefeated! You've sold a bizillion copies of Playboy with another on the way, and your biography has sold well. Your definitely on top of the world and your contract is due for renewal. Shame on you, you ask for more money this time around and the WWF does what they did to the last female Superstar (Sable) they created - they don't want to pay!

Rumors were flying for many months about the negotiations, but none of them were giving Joanie much chance of reaching an agreement. Joanie was unable to come to terms with the WWF and has now opened up her own web site, continues to make personal appearances throughout the country and is trying to establish an acting career. In December 2001 it was announced that her 2nd Playboy magazine shoot was selling well, and it was rumored that Joanie had stated that she made more money from the two magazines than in her entire WWF career. Going from a physical female "brawler" to a full blown Diva, Chyna showed women that it was possible to make it in the testosterone male world of the WWF, and how to do it with class!

WWF - Chyna, Part 1

Chyna (Joanie Laurer) attended Killer Kowalski's Wrestling School in 1995 which is where she met Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Voted "Rookie Of The Year 1996" by the PGWA, Joanie became part of the WWF family in 1997 by making her debut as "Chyna", Triple H's valet. She was soon declared 'The Ninth Wonder Of The World' by ringside announcers since she was physically one of the largest (5'10" 190 lbs.) women anyone in the wrestling world had ever seen. Most male viewers however were left cold by her unfeminine appearance - she was too muscular, had no chest and was definitely not the desirable sex symbol that wow's the male audience. To the detriment of Triple H's opponents however, Chyna discovered that she could easily make the difference between her man winning or losing a match by giving them her lethal and now famous 'low blow'.
Chyna and Triple-H quickly went on to team up with the WWF World Champion Shawn Michaels in 1997-98 and formed the irreverent and comical group D-Generation X. With athletes like X-Pac, Road Dogg and Bad Ass Billy Gunn this group was a major force to be reckoned with each and every week. Chyna became integral to the groups multiple victories and became quite skillful in interfering during a match by taking an opponent 'out' while the ref was being distracted by other member's of DX.

Taking time off towards the end of 1998 Chyna returned to the WWF after having gone to a plastic surgeon and having her jawline reconfigured. A few weeks later a much "bustier" Chyna appeared with Triple H who was returning from an injury. Chyna and the WWF were obviously on the right track for propelling her towards Diva status. Male hormones began to stir when the new and improved "Ninth Wonder" entered the ring to kick some guys ass.

After publicly stating that she had no desire to go after the WWF Women's Wrestling Championship Title since she didn't feel that there was much of a challenge facing other women, Chyna began blossoming into a well-liked (by fans anyway) and respected woman in a man's world. Obviously reveling in the excitement of testing herself in the ring against the men while enjoying her new found status as an up and coming Diva, she did quite well for herself while seizing several firsts in the wrestling world. In January 1999 Chyna became the first woman to compete in a Royal Rumble PPV as she continued her assault on the WWF men's division. Not content in just confronting her one time mentor Triple H (who was now in real life her significant other) she decided to battle the two Superstars of the WWF - Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock - and held her own against either in several matches.
